96+ POINTS – 2021 MORSTEIN RIESLING GG:
“The 2021 Morstein Riesling GG offers a deep and intense yet pure, nuanced, fresh and highly complex bouquet of crushed limestone, even chalk intertwined with bright, lemon fruit aromas. This bouquet is nothing less than spectacular in all its purity, subtle intensity and depth. The palate is silky, pure and saline, beautifully fine and fresh, very elegant and long yet still discreet and reduced in its expression. However, this is a chalky and lemony Mortsein from a cool year that will gain texture and complexity with bottle age. This will turn out to be a classic, and I can only recommend to buy more than you might think to buy based on the conservative score.”
96 POINTS – 2021 “LA BORNE” Riesling Alte Reben:
“(…) offers a deep, pure, fresh and very chalky bouquet that intertwines with ripe and concentrated lemon notes; the nose is puristic and almost ascetic but on the other hand also very exciting for exactly the same reasons. On the palate, this is a silky, or better velvety, round, refined and elegant La Borne with intense, lush and charmingly textured fruit structured by fine and silky limestone acidity, fine tannins and a persistent, uplifting salinity. The La Borne is probably the most adored at this stage, but it is rare (…).”
95 POINTS – 2021 BRUNNENHÄUSCHEN RIESLING GG:
“(…) offers a clear, intense and warm, tender and very elegant as well as balanced bouquet of ripe fruits, crushed limestone and iron. Silky and very elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied yet pure, saline and stimulating Riesling from red clay-limestone. In terms of texture, this is a finely tannic (…). It is a kind of bridge from Westhofen to Wittmann's Niersteiner, and its balanced, silky character is closer to the Niersteiner (…).”
94 POINTS – 2021 WESTHOFENER RIESLING”1G”:
“(…) Composed of Morstein satellites and younger vines (six plots), as well as Brunnenhäuschen and Aulerde (one plot each), the 2021 Westhofener Riesling "1G" offers a dense and intense, saline and flinty bouquet of ripe Riesling fruit with notes of crushed rocks and Amalfi lemons. Silky, lush and savory on the palate, with lingering lemon juice notes, this is a compact and tensioned, very elegant, pure and saline Riesling that can easily compete with so many Grosses Gewächs Rieslings in Germany this year. It is a stunning wine with salinity, lovely grip and tension, but it's already accessible. A Must Have.”
93+ POINTS – 2021 KIRCHSPIEL RIESLING GG:
“(…) offers a nose to fall in love with: pure, intense, highly elegant and refined, like a Chablis based on perfectly ripe and pure Riesling fruits. It is incredibly chalky yet also lush and tropical in its fruit and intertwined with yeasty notes. Full-bodied, round and elegant on the palate, this is a lush and salty-savory, very stimulating yet quietly textured Kirchspiel whose acidity is really delicate and elegant and just holding the texture instead of cutting through it. […] It is a very elegant and balanced wine that is based on five plots, of which one vat underwent malolactic during the alcoholic fermentation.”
93+ POINTS – 2021 AULERDE RIESLING GG:
“(…) offers a deep, spicy, refined and very elegant bouquet with ripe fruit and finely flinty as well as phenolic nuances. Lush and savory on the palate, this is a very elegant and harmonious Aulerde with fine acidity and stimulating salinity and lots of refreshing grip on the pure and crisp finish.”
93 POINTS – 2021 NIERSTEINER RIESLING “1G”:
“(…) From the Ölberg and Orbel grands crus, the 2021 Niersteiner Riesling "1G" offers a clear, intense and flinty bouquet with notes of wet, crushed red rocks, wet clay and herbs, but the nose is really shining and very elegant. Round and very elegant on the palate, with tender acidity, this is a lush and refined, beautifully balanced, saline as well silky Niersteiner with fine, stimulating lemon bitters on the finish.”
92+ POINTS – 2020 CHARONNAY RÉSERVE:
“(…) From the Westhofen Steingrube, the 2020 Chardonnay Réserve spent two winters on the full lees and was bottled in March of this year. The wine opens pure, fresh and still reductive on the nose before ripe, yellow fruit aromas are slowly released. Macerated for a certain time and racked straight from the press into the barrels, the wine starts off a bit reserved but shows ripe, lush and elegant fruit with fine acidity and lingering salinity intermingled with fine phenolic grip and bitters. It is definitely a wine that should be cellared for another winter in the bottle.”
92 POINTS – 2020 WEISSER BURGUNDER RÉSERVE:
“(…) From the Steingrube and aged in 600-liter halbstücks, the 2020 Weisser Burgunder Réserve was whole-cluster pressed and offers a pure, refined and elegant nose with clear and bright fruit intertwined with coolish flinty notes of crushed stones. Round and charming on the palate, this is a textural Pinot Blanc with lush fruit and a fine, saline and stimulating bitter finish. It's an excellent white to have with food.”
92 POINTS – 2021 GUNDERSHEIMER RIESLING “1G”:
“(…) is the seventh vintage after the Flurbereinigung of the Höllenbrand that extends the Morstein but is located on higher, more windy altitudes. The wine is based on grapes picked in late October and opens with a pure, fresh and stony bouquet with flinty and lemony aromas. Lush and saline on the palate, this is a pure, fresh and elegant, also lush and finessed Höllenbrand (…). It has a savory and crunchy finish with stimulating lemon bitters and white peach aromas on the aftertaste.”
92 POINTS – 2021 WESTHOFENER Weisser Burgunder & Chardonnay:
“(…) is from those vats that do not undergo the second winter on the lees, like the Reserve, but that are aged in stücks, tonneaux and pièces until July. Bottled just recently, the 2021 shows a very clear and elegant bouquet with chalky notes intertwined with ripe, white fruit aromas and refreshing flinty notes. Very elegant and balanced on the palate, with ripe and elegant fruit, sustainable grippy structure and salinity, (…) with noblesse and fine grip.”
92 POINTS – 2021 Riesling “vom Kalkstein”:
“From one Kirchspiel and five Morstein parcels, the 2021 Riesling trocken "vom Kalkstein" is the downgraded Westofen 1er cru and presents itself as a bright, deep and flinty but very charming dry Riesling from two of the village's most prestigious limestone terroirs. Vibrantly fresh and saline on the palate, this is a savory, racy and grippy dry Riesling in a lighter but tensioned style.”
92 POINTS – 2021 Riesling Estate:
“From Westhofen's stonier soils and assembling 28 different vats, Wittmann's 2021 Riesling trocken Estate is the former Gutswein, but it's already a wine that is more than just a Riesling pleasure. The white-yellow colored wine offers a clear and spicy, pure and mineral nose with ripe, elegant fruit with herbal nuances. Mouthfilling, round and textured on the palate, this is a juicy yet pure, saline and finessed, very stimulating dry Riesling with delicate lemon bitters on the finish that reveals some ripe white-peach aromas on the aftertaste.”

91 POINTS – 2021 Weisser Burgunder:
“(…) comes from top sites in Westhofen and is partly based on old vines. Aged in larger and smaller oak casks, the 2021 shows a clear, intense and elegant, rather coolish but precise bouquet of ripe fruits, fine lees and delicate notes of finely crushed (lime) stones. Full-bodied, fresh and immediately saline on the palate, this is an impressive, savory and persistent estate Pinot Blanc with character, grip and tension.”
90+ POINTS – 2020 Spätburgunder:
“(…) From different plots on calcareous soils, the 2020 Spätburgunder trocken offers a clear, finely toasty, elegant, fresh and aromatic bouquet with dry berry and cherry as well as discreet nougat aromas. This is an authentic Rhein-Spätburgunder that was aged in barriques for about 18 months. Silky, fresh and very elegant on the palate, this is an intense, round and fruity, finely concentrated, stimulating and easy-quaffing Pinot Noir with serious tannins and intensity. The wine has a good finish with silky tannins and refreshing fine and saline acidity. (…) the wine already tastes perfectly well, especially with food.”

Very elegant and juicy on the palate, this is a pure but round and dry Pinot Gris with fine phenolic grip on the elegant and finely bitter finish.”
89 POINTS – 2021 Riesling trocken 100 Hügel:
“Wittmann's 2021 Riesling trocken 100 Hügel (or 100 Hills (…)) offers a clear, elegant, bright and fresh bouquet of ripe white fruit, such as Golden Delicious apples, intertwined with notes of fresh-cut grass. (…) this is a charmingly round and fresh, very elegant, straight and stimulating dry Riesling that is easy to drink, even for Riesling aficionados.”
