THE SITE
The south-facing slope in Gundersheim, with cross terraces and an incline of up to 20%, forms the western extension of Westhofen’s MORSTEIN. Thanks to its slope and elevation, it is somewhat more exposed to the wind and slightly cooler. The VDP.GROSSE LAGE HÖLLENBRAND is located in the central section of this south-facing slope.
THE SOIL
Heavy clay marl in the topsoil and massive layers of limestone in the subsoil define the Höllenbrand. The limestone slabs are interlaced with deep water veins, ensuring an optimal supply of nutrients and minerals.
